Before I started Common Room, my first podcast experience was as a guest on the mega-popular Harry Potter global reread show Alohomora!
I wrote in to be on the first episode of Goblet of Fire, The Riddle House. We can dive deep into this another time, but I must know… Does anyone else want to see Tom Riddle meet Tom Riddle Sr.?
The scene would be tense, emotional, and scary. Sure Tom Riddle is not stable, and maybe I’ll ask Dave to do an episode with us where we diagnose him for next Potterweek, but ultimately he’s a very hurt child. His mother died when he was born and his father abandoned him (circumstances were tough, but a baby needs parents).
Unfortunately, they let me know they didn’t intend to have a guest on that episode, so the next available episode was Beauxbatons and Durmstrang! It was a really fun time. We speculated a bit, I was hammy as usual, and the episode title was something I said about dear old… well you’ll just have to listen to find out!
