Put Some Letters on Your Face!

BB, CC, SPF, what’s with all these letters? On F3 episode 6, we discuss our favorite BB, CC, Foundations and Concealers.

Raven Darkhölme aka Mystique, is a shapeshifting mutant that never needs clothes or make up, lucky duck.  She represents the Always Changing approach.

Beauty Bit Representatives are drawn by our lovely friend Katy aka Klockworkkat.

 Drugstore
Best Buy: Primer, CC Cream, Foundation, Powder
-Primer: Right now I use SPF as a primer Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen SPF 45, but I really like Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Primer Skin Transformer.
-CC Cream: Olay Total Effects 7 CC Tone Correcting Moisturizer with sunscreen SPF 15– it has a very low amount of coverage, but this is my go to everyday make up base. Do not wear the Neutrogena SPF under this CC unless you let it dry for a long time, it’ll just rub off.
-Foundation: Love Neutrogena healthy skin liquid makeup SPF 20 it provides great coverage and still feels light and doesn’t look cake-y. I own two colors for blending and also for transitioning between seasons and tans: 100 for Summer and 50 for Winter. I do also use finishing powder because this foundation is a bit too shiny.
-Powder: Revlon Photo Ready Translucent Finisher 001 I like that it’s translucent because it doesn’t make me look like I have white powder all over my face, ha!
Price: Primer: $9.49 SPF: $13.49 (got a two-pack for less at Walgreens!), CC: $23.99 (got a multipack at Costco!), Foundation: $13.49, Powder: $12.99

Budget: Sephora
Best Buy: Primer, Foundation, Powder
-Primer: I used to use just normal MAC Prep + Prime Skin which ran around $45 but then they released in Australia (a while after everywhere else got it) Mac Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm SPF 35 – $42 per 40ml. I have fallen in love with it. It combines my Primer and BB Cream into one. Before this I had a separate Garnier BB cream but it often made my skin sting, so I as on the look out for another one. I have tried 7 different BB creams (because I’m lazy and this seems like a wonderful work week option, quick and easy) and I’ve finally found the MAC one I love – not surprising as I’m MAC everything.
-Foundation:  Surprising no-one, the answer to this is also MAC. Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation. I cannot emphasise how much I love this liquid foundation. It’s long wearing for big nights out and has this silky smooth finish which I love. It also has a colour that suits my very fair skin tone, something I’ve always found difficult to find.
-Powder: I’m a bit lazy with powder and I never did any research into it so I got the powder pair for my liquid foundation. It’s the MAC Studio Fix Powder – $49 for 15grms.
Price: BB Cream = $42; Foundation = $52; Powder = $49. I know these are expensive but they last so long for me, I have to buy them so intermittently that I can’t remember the last time I picked some up. It’s a small price to pay for something that I’m going to get so much use out of.

Ethnicity/Skin Color: Latina/White – light olive
Skin Type: Normal
Budget: Drugstore/Sephora
Best Buy: Daily Moisturizer, Powder
-Daily Moisturizer
: Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer SPF 30-Untinted.  Because skin cancer runs in my family and my inability to stay out of the sun, remember Californian here, my dermatologist strongly recommends that everyone MUST have sunscreen in their daily face moisturizer. He said that this brand is just as good as anything out there. Also most stores including Target, Walmart, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and some supermarkets make generic versions which have the same ingredients.
-Powder: Lancome Dual Finish – All Day Wear Versatile Powder Makeup.  My stepmother told me that I would get pimples if I wore foundation as a teenager.  I guess it just stuck with me because I only wear powder foundation even as an adult.  And P.S., she was right – I never got pimples as teenager.  (Thanks Mom!)  I currently use Lancome, but I am also a fan of MAC, Bobby Brown, Sephora generic, and Garden Botanika versions.  They all are light and their fragrance is mild.
Price: Daily Moisturizer – Under $10 USD (If you get the generic it’s usually under $6 USD), Powder – Between $35-$15 USD (depending on the product)
Sold by: Most drugstores, department stores, & Sephora
