We’ve made it easy for you, Pat Sponaugle and I (Hadas!) got together for a Game of Thrones recap chat to prepare for the final season.
It’s finally here! The last season of Game of Thrones is upon us. Literally, it starts tonight. Do you remember who’s who? Who’s alive and who’s not so much? What open questions are left to answer? Pat and I get into it.
If you feel lost, don’t worry, I ask Pat so many questions you’ll probably be a pro after listening. Here’s some textual review in the meantime:
House Stark: Where are they now?
Dead: Ned, Cat, Robb, Rickon
Alive: Sansa, Arya, Bran, Jon
Notes:
- Bran is no longer Bran, but the three-eyed-raven.
- Jon needs to find out about his heritage
House Lannister: Where are they now?
Dead: Kevin, Lancel, Tywin, Joffrey, Myrcella, Tommen
Alive: Cersei, Jaime, Tyrion
Notes:
- Cersei claims she is pregnant
- Jaime left Cersei to fight for the living
- In the books, in addition to the prophecy Cersei hears about her children dying, she also learns a younger sibling will kill her. This could mean Jaime or Tyrion.
House Targaryen: Where are they now?
Dead: Viserys, Rhaego (the baby), Viserion
Alive: Daenerys, Jon, Drogon, Rhaegal
Notes:
- Dany believes she can’t have children because of Mirri Mazdoor, tbd
- Jon’s claim to the throne is stronger than Dany’s because Rhaegar, his father is the first born son, Viserys and Dany are the youngest. Rhaegar’s children would come before his siblings in the line of succession.
House Greyjoy: Where are they now?
Dead: Baelon
Alive: Euron, Yara, Theon
- Euron apparently bailed on Cersei after seeing the undead, tbd
- Euron still has Yara
Other Houses: Where are they now?
Martell: All dead
Tyrells: All dead
Tarly: Father and Dickon are dead; Samwell, his mother, and sister are still alive
- Samwell might be legitimized again
Clegane: The Hound is alive, The Mountain is “alive”
- The books hint at something fans call Cleganebowl, a final fight between the brothers, tbd
Arryn: Robyn is alive, his father was killed in episode one, his mother was killed later by Littlefinger
Baelish: Peter Littlefinger Baelish was killed by Arya in the last episode on season 7
- Fan theories wonder if Littlefinger paid a Faceless Man to die in his stead, tbd
Tarth: Brienne is still alive, riding north
Melissandre: Left Westeros, but said she is destined to die there. We may see her again.
Varys: On the boat with Dany and Jon on the way to Winterfell. Melissandre told him he’d die in Westeros. We may see that on screen.
Hotpie: Still at the Inn of the Crossroads
Thoros of Myr: died during the quest to bring the Wight
Beric Dondarrion: still alive, no more respawns available
Tormunde: was on the wall when the Night King tore it down; Fate: unknown
Jorah, Missandei, Greyworm: all on their way to the north
