Best Movies of 2015

Here Are the Favorite Movies of 2015 as Picked by the Common Room Team!

Mad Max: Fury Road

Mad Max Fury Road Tom Hardy Charlize Theron

Mad Max has been my favorite so far this year. It surprised me. I saw the trailer and thought it looked dumb. Then I saw it and was in awe of the art direction and the female approach of the story. So great! – Charee

Mad Max! Mad Max!!!! I love action movies, so seeing one where ladies got to kick as much ass if not MORE than the guys was so cool. It’s also fascinating from a filmmaking point of view, and I’ve been watching a lot of videos filmmakers have made about the editing, color, and cinematography. – Debbie

Inside Out
Picked by: Carolyn and Nicole

Inside Out Pixar Amy Poehler Bil Hader Mindy Kapling Phyllis Smith

Of all the Pixar movies I’ve seen in the past, this was the most clever and heartfelt. I remember going to the theater knowing how touched I was going to be even before I watched and I came out just feeling happy that I’m a human with emotions. – Carolyn

Mockingjay Part 2

Mockingjay Katniss Everdeen Jenniver Lawrence Peeta Mellark Josh Hutcherson

I don’t see that many movies, and those I do are typically something with the family. We did see Mockingjay Part 2. I really liked it. I liked how much they stayed with the book. – Christine

The Martian

Matt Damon The Martian Jessica Chastain

Taking the elements of isolation in space, as alike to Alien and Gravity, and putting them into a sometimes feelgood, sometimes dramatic context. A refreshing twist. – Luke

My favorite has been The Martian. The book was fantastic and the movie portrayed it well. – Lindsey

Margaux’s Note: The Martian is great great fun, and a breath of fresh air in the “lost/stuck in space” genre.

Jurassic World
Picked by: Hadas and Christine

Jurassic World Chris Pratt Bryce Dallas Howard Omar Sy

I really enjoyed Jurassic World. It was properly nostalgic and had really fun DINO ACTION! – Hadas

The Intern

nancy meyers the intern anne hathaway robert deniro

The Intern was super sweet and uncomplicated. I related to it a lot and wrote a whole post about it.Hadas

(Margaux’s Note: I also think it was a really cute and simple movie, a great watch this year!)
