Jonathon Rosenthal is the lead organizer of the best Harry Potter Meetup group. This isn’t an exaggeration. It’s the best out there. The Group that Shall Not Be Named has been around for over a decade and has over 2000 members. I was lucky enough to enjoy an hour of chat with the man behind this community’s magic.

The best Harry Potter meetup group in thet world, get to know the Group that Shall Not Be Named and it's lead organizer, Jonathon Rosenthal.

Listen in as Jonathon and I chat about Potter, the fantastic Group that Shall Not Be Named Harry Potter Meetup group and other fun chit chat.

If you live in New York, or even if you’re visiting, head here https://www.meetup.com/TGTSNBN/ and join the Meetup group for good discussions and to find out about cool events coming up. Some are scheduled months in advance! The events range from discussions to trivia to cosplay photoshoots and even craft nights. There are so many different types of events you could attend that fit your level of Harry Potter appreciation.

The group that shall not be named on a fantastic cosplay photoshoot.

This year through the group I heard about several events I wouldn’t have known about otherwise. The New York Historical Society brought over the exhibit from the London Museum, A History of Magic, and with it many conversations with the creatives including several translators, Arthur A Levine himself, and Jim Dale. You can see some clips and photos on our Instagram stories here.

I wanted to talk to Jonathon mostly from an operational point of you. I was fascinated by how he was able to run such an active group while working full time and having a life outside of Potter. The bonus is that I now get to tell more people about this wonderful group and its members.

Meet Jonathon Rosenthal, the nicest guy in town and the man behind the magic that is the group that shall not be named.

Please listen to our convo and join the group. Hope to meet you soon!
