New Section: A Writer’s Review

Hi All! Jess

Welcome to one of my favorite places: The Library. My section of the library, A Writer’s Review, takes a look at how good or bad the writing is in the books I read. I like to look at things like how smooth the writing is, how developed the characters are, and how successful it is overall. I care less about all that stuff you learned in school—motifs and symbolism, etc.—and more for the experience of reading. Was it enjoyable? Did I feel completely immersed in the story? If it is a series, do I care what happens next?

My tastes tend to revolve around middle grade and young adult sci-fi and fantasy, though I like to throw in the random mystery, sports memoir, adult fiction, and more for variety.

At the end of each of my reviews, I’ll let you know if I recommend the book by giving it one of five ratings-
