#Fandom5: Gateway Fandoms That Made Me Who I Am Today

Hi! Estee here! I am doing our first 5 Fandom Friday suggested by the wonderful The Nerdy Girlie and Super Space Chick!

fandom.5.friday

This week’s theme is Gateway Fandoms That Made Me Who I Am Today.

charmed tattoo1. Charmed

I fell in love with the show years ago and it really got me interested in all things magical. It also sparked an interest in me to learn new things and be more open minded. For example, this is my triquetra tattoo. It’s a celtic trinity knot that I got because I was inspired by the one used on the show.

estee_circle2. Harry Potter

Unlike a lot of Potter fans I came to the books late. But once I did I was hooked! These stories got me back into reading again and made me realize how wonderful it is to use my imagination like I did when I was a kid. I’m such a proud Hufflepuff that I had a badge put on my silhouette!

sherlock tee3. Sherlock Holmes

I am a fan of all things Sherlock Holmes! I love the stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, I love the Robert Downey Jr. movies, the show Elementary and of course the BBC version with my main squeeze Benedict Cumberbatch. (I even love shows loosely based on Holmes like House.)  I’ve always been a sucker for a good detective story and you can’t get much better than Holmes. I loved this quote so much I got it on a t-shirt.

TARDIS light4. Doctor Who

I got into Doctor Who because my son started watching it. As any parent would I thought I should see what it was all about and I’m so glad I did. Not only do I love it, but it has given my son and I something to bond over.

fairy necklace5. Fairies

While I’m not 100%  sure most people would consider this a fandom, I do. I have read everything I can find about fairies and think they are the coolest mythical creature there is. They rekindled my love of art and have inspired me to plant a fairy garden. My friend got me this necklace because I love fairies so much…isn’t it pretty?
