#FairytaleRC Review: The Moth In The Mirror

I’ve gotten a bit behind on my reading recently so this review is coming to you a little later than I had originally intended. Now that I have less TV to watch I’m hoping to get back on track with my reading. That said here is my review of The Moth In The Mirror by A.G. Howard.

fairytale book review the moth in the mirror

How I came to find this book:

I knew that this novella (which is only available in e-book format) was part of Howard’s Splintered series so I had to check it out.

My rating:

I give it four smiley faces. I really like it a lot.

rating smiles 4 great

What’s the story about?:

This novella shows us things from that happened in Splintered from Jeb’s point of view. We get to see what happened when he and Alyssa were apart and gain some insight on how he feels about her and all the crazy things happening around them.

Book Review Favorites Characters

My favorite thing about this book:

I really liked the change in perspective. I enjoy seeing stories told from various sides. It gives an enjoyable look into what the different characters are thinking and feeling.

My least favorite thing about this book:

Honestly, I wish it were longer. I understand it wasn’t supposed to be long and that there is only so much that can be shown from Jeb’s side without it just being a complete retelling of the original story, but I enjoyed getting a glimpse inside of his head so much. I just wasn’t ready to leave.

My favorite character and why:

As you might remember from my previous review I don’t jump on the main character as my favorite because frankly it’s an obvious choice. So, I went with Gossamer here. She is Morpheus’ sprite sidekick. She is typically pretty loyal to him but in this story she rebels just enough to help Jeb make a huge choice that is not necessarily great for Jeb but is key to the storyline in the next book.

My least favorite character and why:

Ok, this is another off the cuff choice mainly because it isn’t a character we ever really “see”, we only ever hear about him. It’s Jeb’s father. The man is a complete jerk (I’d love to use less friendly words but I’m keeping this clean.) He abuses his family horribly and while I understand that is why Jeb is the wonderful man that he is I feel bad that he had to get there because he suffered the way he did.

My favorite quote:

“The best spies are the ones that play both sides with equal vigor.”

Next up on my list Unhinged by A.G. Howard, the next book in the Splintered series.
