Here Are the Favorite Movies of 2015 as Picked by the Common Room Team!
Mad Max has been my favorite so far this year. It surprised me. I saw the trailer and thought it looked dumb. Then I saw it and was in awe of the art direction and the female approach of the story. So great! – Charee
Mad Max! Mad Max!!!! I love action movies, so seeing one where ladies got to kick as much ass if not MORE than the guys was so cool. It’s also fascinating from a filmmaking point of view, and I’ve been watching a lot of videos filmmakers have made about the editing, color, and cinematography. – Debbie
Inside Out
Picked by: Carolyn and Nicole
Of all the Pixar movies I’ve seen in the past, this was the most clever and heartfelt. I remember going to the theater knowing how touched I was going to be even before I watched and I came out just feeling happy that I’m a human with emotions. – Carolyn
Mockingjay Part 2
I don’t see that many movies, and those I do are typically something with the family. We did see Mockingjay Part 2. I really liked it. I liked how much they stayed with the book. – Christine
The Martian
Taking the elements of isolation in space, as alike to Alien and Gravity, and putting them into a sometimes feelgood, sometimes dramatic context. A refreshing twist. – Luke
My favorite has been The Martian. The book was fantastic and the movie portrayed it well. – Lindsey
Margaux’s Note: The Martian is great great fun, and a breath of fresh air in the “lost/stuck in space” genre.
Jurassic World
Picked by: Hadas and Christine
I really enjoyed Jurassic World. It was properly nostalgic and had really fun DINO ACTION! – Hadas
The Intern
The Intern was super sweet and uncomplicated. I related to it a lot and wrote a whole post about it. – Hadas
(Margaux’s Note: I also think it was a really cute and simple movie, a great watch this year!)
