And here are the last 10 on my most anticipated movies of 2016 list!
Finding Dory
Let’s face it, we are all excited for Dory, Marlin, Nemo and everyone to be back! We’ve been waiting a long, long time for this one to come out and it’s now so close I can almost see it. Finding Dory is focusing on Dory who is trying to remember where her parents are… I’m curious to see if the sequel can live up to the first!
Coming out June 17
The Secret Life of Pets
If there’s one animation movie I’m truly looking forward to see, it’s The Secret Life of Pets. The same studio that gave us Despicable Me, is finally giving us something other than little yellow minions. I’m so excited for this one, Pets and their secret lives when their owners are not there, is all I wanted to see. I’m happy they are the ones making it, and not Disney (even if all animation studios have used humanized version of animals in their films). July, here I come!

Coming out July 8
Ghostbusters
Here’s the deal, I dislike Paul Feig’s cinema in general, but a whole female remake of Ghostbusters, even directed by him, I’ll watch that in an instant. Finally a genderswap of old, somewhat sexist, classics! Plus Chris Hemsworth is a secretary in it. I’m excited to see what a female team can do to that movie, shaking things up a little bit. I’ll definitely see it!
Coming out July 15
Star Trek Beyond
Most of my choices for this list are based on the fact that I’m just curious about a lot of sequels. I’m very curious to see what’s happening to the new Star Trek franchise when JJ is not behind the camera. Justin Lin is the happy new director of Star Trek Beyond, the 3rd episode of our favorite space crew. Let’s give him a chance to prove himself!
Coming out July 22
Brice de Nice 3
Ok guys, you might not understand why I’m excited for Brice de Nice 3. The main reason is that you’re not French, and thus have never heard of the first movie or this one, and because your hometown is not Nice. As a proud Nissart, I’m so happy to see Brice again! I remember very well when they filmed the first movie, that was all we could talk about in class. Brice is dumb, he likes to surf and yellow, and this time he’s going to help Marius from Fréjus. It sounds like a great comedy waiting to happen, and yes I might be the only person ecstatic about it!
Coming out October 19
Moana
Yes, yes and YES! Finally! Move to the side Elsa, Anna and Rapunzel, Moana is on her way and it feels good. Finally Disney is moving things around with “princesses.” I can’t express how much joy I feel when I look at this young Polynesian heroine who is going to set sail for a mysterious island with a demi-god.
We’re finally going to experience another setting, something closer to Lilo & Stitch rather than the usual European mythology type of stories. Plus, the other thing that got me really excited is that Lin-Manuel Miranda is writing most of the songs, and I’m always on board with that!

Coming out November 23
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
Every new movie Tim Burton makes, I hope. Yes, I hope it will finally be good again. Those last few years he really didn’t produce one good movie. When I saw this title, I’ll say it again, it gave me so much hope! Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children sounds exactly like something he would do, and from what I heard it has a gothic touch to it, so it’s perfect. I haven’t read the book yet, even if it has been on my to-read list for a while now, but I guess it will give me a reason to catch up on it while waiting for the movie to come out!
Coming out December 25
Captain Fantastic
Viggo Mortensen portrays a father who raised his children in the wild until an event forced him to introduce them to the real world. This photo is pretty fantastic – see what I did there, It’s the only thing we got out of the Sundance festival, where it screened a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty much all I needed. But I’d like to see a trailer, because I still can’t determine what this movie is going to be.
Coming out in 2016, release date to be announced.
Juste La Fin Du Monde
Xavier Dolan is back this year with two new movies! The first one is Juste La Fin Du Monde, a movie in French. Louis (Gaspard Ulliel) is a terminally ill writer who comes back to tell the news to his family after 12 years of absence. I strongly dislike about 85% of the cast, but it’s a Dolan, he has something special. His scripts are always on points and his movies are beautiful, so nevermind the cast, I a getting on this bandwagon.

Coming out in 2016, release date to be announce.
The Life and Death of John F. Donovan
The second one of Xavier Dolan’s new 2016 features is The Life and Death of John F. Donovan, his first English speaking film. A movie star’s career is on the verge of destruction when his correspondence with an 11 year old is exposed to the public. We definitely haven’t seen that before. Starring Kit Harington, Jessica Chastain, Kathy Bates and even Susan Sarandon, I’m really looking forward to see them all on screen, under the eye of one of the most talented young director out there!
Coming out in 2016, release date to be announce.
BONUS: Now You See Me 2
This sequel looks like an elaborate joke, but since the first one was highly entertaining, I’m really looking forward to this! Daniel Radcliffe as a failed magician, I’ll have that any day! I’m not convinced about Lizzy Caplan in the few shots we saw in the trailer, but hey, we don’t have the big picture yet, so no judgments!
Coming out June 10
That’s it folks! All of this being said, I’m a bit excited for huge blockbusters like Doctor Strange, Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them, Rogue One, X-Men Apocalypse etc… even Suicide Squad (I know what I said). Since there’s some elements that I don’t look forward to in those movies: In some I really don’t agree with the casting, in others, previous films have been a disappointment… they are not my top priority this year!
